US DoD 8140 Certified in Cybersecurity Entry-LevelISC2's entry-level Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Certification offering is approved for use in an impressive 20 out of the 54 work roles currently identified in the DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Provider Marketplace. The fundamental certification from ISC2 allows candidates to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities across core cybersecurity concepts and has become the essential certification for aspiring cybersecurity professionals. This recognition qualifies CC certification holders for 37% of the DoD Cyber Workforce roles, a phenomenal opportunity for those looking to pursue or develop their cyber career.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) DoD Manual 8140 identifies members of the DoD cyberspace workforce based on cyberspace work roles and implemented revised policies assigning responsibilities and prescribing procedures for the DoD cyberspace workforce. Under the new Cyber Workforce Framework the CC is a qualifying certification in six of the identified seven workforce elements:

  • IT (Cyberspace)
  • Cybersecurity
  • Cyberspace Effects
  • Intelligence (Cyberspace)
  • Cyberspace Enablers
  • Software Engineering

Interested candidates can now receive free CC training and an exam voucher with ISC2’s One Million in Cybersecurity initiative. So far, over 500 thousand people have engaged with the program and there are more than 62,000 certified CC’s across the globe. There is no experience needed to participate, just curiosity and a passion for a new and rewarding field.
