ISC2’s Unified Body of Knowledge (UBK) Project has reached a critical milestone with the completion of phase four. At this stage, all ISC2 Common Bodies of Knowledge along with supporting content have been evaluated.
The UBK project launched earlier this year to bring together the knowledge contained across all ISC2 bodies of knowledge into a single corpus. By doing this, ISC2 will be able to better support the needs of cybersecurity professionals from beginner to expert. Across all four phases of the project, ISC2 engaged with volunteers from 50 nations. Members participated in a series of thirteen workshops. These included peer-to-peer collaboration in the review, deduplication, editing and validating of content across all ISC2 Common Bodies of Knowledge. At this time, the knowledge sources for ISC2’s certifications ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSMP, CISSP, CCSP, CSSLP, SSCP and HCISPP have been vetted for accuracy and relevance.
Those interested in participating in future WFS engagements can apply through the ISC2 Volunteer program. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the validation and release of content for today’s working industry professionals.
Here’s what the team has accomplished in the year so far:
- Thirteen workshops have reviewed nearly 5,000 topics across all bodies of knowledge.
- To ensure quality, Content Advisory Panel Workshops were held evaluating workshop results for quality, accuracy, relevance and adherence to editorial guidelines and standards.
- In the latest phase, a digital forensics focus group spent four weeks evaluating 400 additional topics for completeness, relevancy, and deprecation.
Throughout this project, subject matter experts have retired dated ideas and practices while gleaning and aggregating new insights. Multiple rounds of content evaluation, edits and proposed additions were necessary to ensure accuracy and validity of the completed version.
