George “Buzz” Murphy, CISSP, CCSP, SSCP

George (Buzz) Murphy, CISSP, CCSP, SSCP, CASP+, is a cybersecurity corporate executive, international trainer, and the author of ISC2 SSCP Systems Security Certified Practitioner Official Study Guide, published by Sybex.

An international cybersecurity expert who over the past four decades, has managed and trained thousands of system security individuals around the world on a variety of technical and cybersecurity topics. As a former Dell technology executive, Fortune 500 corporate IT security executive, and U.S. Army IT networking security professional, he has directly managed, recruited and trained several thousand corporate security professionals.

Having founded CyberSpace Intelligence International, an information security consulting organization, he has addressed audiences at international conferences, major corporations and educational institutions including Princeton University, University of Michigan, University of Texas, Texas A&M University, and the National University of Singapore as well as having trained network and cybersecurity operators for all of the U.S. military branches and many U.S. government security agencies. Clients have included the United States Federal Reserve Bank, Sandia National Laboratory, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Hanford National Laboratory, Los Alamos National laboratory, and NASA. He has conducted specialized security training programs for such organizations as the CIA, NSA, Department of State, and various NATO affiliated countries.

A former US military data center manager in Europe, he has held international top-secret security clearances across numerous US intelligence agencies as well as NATO intelligence. Through a forty-year career in the private sector, his experience spans numerous management and product development roles in high-tech startup as well as Fortune 500 organizations.

Through the years he has earned over thirty-three IT and cybersecurity certifications from such prestigious organizations as ISC2, CompTIA, PMI, and Microsoft, and other industry certification organizations. He is an ISC2 Senior Authorized Instructor currently specializing in international CISSP, SSCP and CCSP Cloud Security certification training across 18 countries.

He has authored, co-authored, or contributed to more than two dozen books on a wide range of topics including AI Security, GenAI Security, Cloud security technology, secure network engineering, industrial control technology, Internet of Things security technology, and corporate IT security. He is a contributing author for the National Cyber Security Institute in Washington D.C, with a concentration on cyber security topics covering national strategic assets.

He is CEO of Murphy Digital Media, LLC, a technical media producer with media production studios in Texas, California, and Vancouver BC. He is also a founding partner in the Dark Web Council.

Had George Murphy as the instructor for the bootcamp. I thought he was excellent! His expertise and experience came through, he truly is in-depth in the subject matter and I really liked the historical context George provided in his explanations as we went through - it helps connect to the material. He also had impressive energy throughout the class over the 5 days and the level of his enthusiasm for the topics helps me as a student stay connected and pay attention. His whiteboard slides I also found helpful in simplifying/explaning a lot of the material. Finally, I had an issue mid-week where I was unexpectedly & incorrectly unenrolled from the class, and George helped me get the issue escalated within ISC2 and it was resolved just in time for me to join the next day's session - this was hugely appreciated - thank you George!
